FAQ - your phishing questions, answered

  • What is phishing in simple terms?

It is a digital trap. Scammers act like a trusted company or individual to fool you into revealing sensitive information.

    This includes:

    • passwords,
    • bank details
    • credit card number.

Their main goal is to steal from you.

  • How does phishing work?

The process is quite simple and can be broken down into 3 steps:

    1. The Bait

An email or message that creates a sense of urgency or piques your curiosity (for instance, "Your account is locked" or "You have a parcel waiting").
    2. The Hook

You are encouraged to click on a malicious link or open a dangerous attachment.
    3. The Catch

That link leads you to a counterfeit website that captures your login details when you attempt to sign in.
  • Why is phishing so dangerous?

The risks involved go way beyond just a lost password. If an attack succeeds, it can cause:

    • direct financial loss,
    • a gateway for major attack,
    • complete identity theft.
  • Can phishing be done by phone?

Definitely! There are actually some specific names for these scams:

    • Vishing (Voice Phishing)
    • Smishing (SMS Phishing)
